Caledonian Canine Massage

By accessing and utilising the services of Paula Dryburgh, trading as Caledonian Canine Massage (CCM), you accept and agree to be bound by the terms and conditions of this agreement.

1. Veterinary Consent

In accordance with the Veterinary Surgeons Act 1966 and Exemptions Order 2015, all animals must have written veterinary consent obtained before treatment, including those having fitness assessment or maintenance appointments.  If an animal develops a new condition, updated veterinary consent may be required before treatment can continue.  If at any point an animal’s veterinary surgeon advises that massage treatment should be stopped or suspended it is the owner’s responsibility to notify CCM.

Failure to provide a completed veterinary consent form by the time of the booked appointment will result in the animal not being seen, and charges will be as detailed in the cancellation policy below.

2. Animal Requirements

Before your dog’s appointment please ensure​

  • Dogs have had adequate opportunity to relieve themselves.

  • Please do not feed your animal within two hours of their appointment.

  • Please do not exercise your animal for at least one hour prior to their appointment. 

Any animal presenting with sickness, diarrhoea or flea infestation will not be treated, but the appointment will be charged in full including any travel costs incurred. 

Please advise Paula, as soon as possible, if your dog relieves themselves in the clinic or indoor areas.

 3. Appointments

Available appointment times will be determined by caseload and will be confirmed with you at the time of booking. ​

Appointment slots are offered on a first-come first-served basis.

Whilst CCM aims to arrive punctually for appointments, any unforeseen circumstances preventing this will be notified to the client as soon as reasonably possible.

 Appointments rescheduled due to a delay or error on the part of CCM will not be charged.

4. Payment

Payment is due in full at the time of treatment, unless otherwise agreed in advance in writing.

Payment may be made by cash or BACS transfer. 

Receipt available on request.

For insurance claim cases, CCM respectfully reminds clients that the normal terms of payment still apply, as the insurance contract is between the client and insurance company only.

CCM reserves the right to pursue unpaid accounts in any manner deemed appropriate including debt collection services or civil proceedings.  Any costs incurred in recovering unpaid accounts will be passed to the client.

Failure to comply with these payment terms may result in future bookings being declined.

5. Cancellation Policy

Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice to cancel or re-arrange an appointment will incur a £20 cancellation fee, payable prior to confirmation of a new appointment.

Cancellations with less than 24 hours’ notice to cancel or re-arrange an appointment will be charged at the full fee plus any travel charges incurred, payable prior to confirmation of a new appointment.

6. Insurance Claims

Many insurance companies will reimburse costs for canine massage treatment, but clients are advised to check their policy before booking an appointment.

Where specifically requested, CCM will provide an insurer with case records.

7. Privacy and Confidentiality

 All client records are held and used in accordance with General Data Protection Regulations 2018.   In instructing CCM to treat your animal, you authorise CCM to use that data in the course of the work carried out.

​Photographs and videos are used as a way of monitoring progress during treatment. In addition, these may occasionally be shared on the CCM website or social media. If you do not wish your animal to feature online, please let Paula know at the time of treatment.

Your animal’s veterinary surgeon will be contacted as necessary, ito share progress and access clinical notes.

A veterinary surgeon or paraprofessional taking over a case may be forwarded copies of relevant records, with client consent. 

Where specifically requested, CCM will provide an insurer with case records.​

Under normal circumstances, no client or animal information will be disclosed to any other third party, without explicit or implied consent. CCM will not divulge your details to any other external agencies, except for debt collection purposes.

CCM retains ownership of all treatment records.

8. Complaints

CCM aims to provide a first-class service.  However, should you have any problems with the service that you receive please address these to Paula Dryburgh

Canine Massage Workshops

Your rights are protected under the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 and Consumer Rights Act 2015.

Workshops and Course

Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 & Consumer Rights Act 2015

We abide by the applicable elements of Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013 and the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Accordingly, should you wish to cancel your booking in the next 14 days, no charge will be applied. (You are unable to be refunded after attending the workshop.)

1. Payment terms

Our standard payment terms is that payment in full is taken at booking.

2. Transfers

Should circumstances mean that you need to transfer to another Canine Massage Therapy Centre workshop/Course, the following charges will apply, dependent on notice given:

·            First transfer, made more than six weeks prior to the course start date – no charge

·           Further Transfers will attract a re-booking fee of £25 where requested more than six weeks prior to the workshop.

·            Two to six weeks’ notice given – 25% of the course fee

·            Less than two weeks’ notice given – 50% of the course fee.

All transfers must be taken within a period of twelve months from the original course date.

3. Cancellations

Should circumstances mean that you have to cancel your workshop and are unable to transfer your booking to another date at the time of cancellation, the following charges will apply:

·            More than six weeks prior to the workshop date – no charge

·            Two to six weeks prior to the course – 50% of the course fee

·            Less than two weeks prior to the course – full fee.

NB Cancellation must be made in writing/email and received by CMTC by the due date.

4. Non-attendance

If you do not attend a course/workshop, and you have not previously informed us, the full course fee remains payable.

5. Unforeseen circumstances

On occasion, unforeseen circumstances may require us to cancel a workshop. In such circumstances you will be given as much notice as possible and either a free transfer to another course date or a full refund of fees paid.

6. Scope of Workshop

Completion of the one day workshops does not qualify you to work as a Canine Massage therapist. If you wish to become a Practitioner, you are advised to look at the Canine Massage Practitioner Training Programme which is a 2 year course run by CMTC and accredited by Lantra. Practitioners abide by the Veterinary Act 1966 and Exemptions Order 1962.

7. VAT

All course fees are subject to the current rate of VAT.

8. Guidelines for attendees

Attendees are responsible for providing a canine partner on the day

It is your responsibility to ensure that you and your dog, are free from any condition which would affect either of you capabilities to undertake the workshop. Furthermore there should be no underlying medical condition affecting your dog that may trigger an adverse reaction by applying the massage techniques that you will be taught or that may be passed to any other attendees. You may be required to work on the floor or from a table depending on the size of your dog. If this is a problem, we need to know so that we can make sure we can offer appropriate assistance.

We welcome attendees with disabilities but it remains your responsibility to ensure that you notify us of any additional needs you may have in advance.  Should you need additional assistance requiring you to bring a friend to help you, we ask that you discuss this with CMTC in advance. 

There is limited room at the workshops and therefore we cannot accommodate additional spectators.  There are however a number of local attractions they may like to explore should you need someone to bring you to the workshop.

Food is not available at the workshop other than tea/coffee.  You are therefore advised to bring your own lunch. 

10. Safety:

CMTC reserves the right to refuse the workshop if the dog becomes unruly, unmanageable or aggressive to dogs or people.  The same applies to their human!

The customer is responsible for their dog for the day and understands that the dog is not allowed to wander around the hall and must be kept on a lead/harness.  We want everyone to enjoy the course and cannot allow behaviour which restrict others enjoyment and ability to learn from their day.

The customer will provide CCM with any information that may be pertinent about the dog eg: Behavioural Characteristics, any issues with other dogs, being handled, touched etc...  Provided that you are responsible for, and the dog is not a problem to those around you, we will work with you to provide you with a suitable environment in which to enjoy the course.

The customer undertakes the course at their own risk.

Your dog is vulnerable and AT RISK if left in a vehicle in high temperatures and even on days considered as slightly warm. Please take care of your dog. If your dog is found to be at risk forcible entry to your vehicle may be necessary without liability for any damage caused.

What do you do with my information?

To prevent unauthorised access or disclosure, we employ security measures to protect your information from access by unauthorised persons and against unlawful processing, accidental loss, destruction, and damage. We have also put in place suitable physical, electronic, and managerial procedures to safeguard and secure the information we collect online. We will retain your information for a reasonable period or as long as the law requires.

Please note that by making a booking an appointment with Caledonian Massage you are agreeing to our Terms & Conditions and our Privacy Notice. You also agree to attend the appointment you have booked. 

Appointments

You can make an appointment with Caledonian Massage (CM) in a number of ways including via telephone, text or email. Appointments are on a first come first served basis, available appointments will be determined by caseload and will be confirmed with you at the time of booking. 

If this is your first appointment with CM, you will also receive a New Client Consultation Form via email before your appointment. Please complete this because I will not be able to treat you until you have, and completion on the day will be part of your appointment time.

Cancellations & Late Arrivals

Please cancel as soon as possible if a foreseeable event is likely to prevent you from attending, for example, illness or adverse weather conditions. However, if you need to cancel your appointment at short notice because of Covid-19 related symptoms, a long-term medical condition which varies from day to day, or because you are more than 37 weeks pregnant, then please discuss with me as soon as possible.

Cancellations with less than 48 hours’ notice to cancel or re-arrange an appointment will incur a £20 cancellation fee, payable prior to confirmation of a new appointment.

Following a cancellation, payment must be received before any further massage bookings can be taken.

Late Arrivals: It is important that our agreed appointment time and duration is adhered to. I appreciate that sometimes, things happen, and you may arrive a little later or need to leave a bit earlier than planned. This is fine, but we cannot make up the missed time by overrunning or adding time to subsequent appointments.

Confidentiality

All client information and clinical records will be safeguarded by Caledonian Massage and will remain confidential. Unless required to do so by law, I will not otherwise share, sell or distribute any of the information you provide to us without your consent. 

Consultations and client treatment details will not be discussed with anyone other than the client unless the client is under the age of 18 or has a care worker or guardian. If required and relevant to your treatment program, I may, with your consent, discuss your case with appropriate professionals

Health & Safety

I hold a current First Aid certificate, and hold professional and public indemnity insurance, for the services that I provide.

Due to the nature of massage and the need for close contact, I will maintain a high standard of personal hygiene and clients are asked to ensure that they also maintain a high standard of personal hygiene.

If I am unwell, suffering from a cold or virus, infection or general ill health, I will contact you to inform you of the issue at the earliest opportunity to make suitable alternative arrangements. If you are unwell then please do not to attend for a massage if they are unwell, suffering from a cold or virus, infection or general ill health. Please contact me at the earliest opportunity to rearrange your appointment.

Clients under the age of 18 years must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. This parent or guardian must give permission for the agreed massage plan to be performed and will be requested to co-sign the New Client Consultation Form. They will be required to remain present throughout the treatment.

I hold the right to refuse any treatment if a client is physically or verbally abusive towards, or demonstrates inappropriate, aggressive, or sexual behaviour. Such behaviour may also result in criminal proceedings.

I may refuse to treat any client or part of their body with just and reasonable cause. Caledonian Massage reserves the right to terminate any appointment at any time if they believe that it is not safe or in your best interest to continue. Likewise, you have the right to refuse, modify or terminate treatment at any time, regardless of prior consent given.

Caledonian Massage provides massage therapy and bodywork in a variety of forms, but none of these are a substitute for professional medical care or counselling. Caledonian Massage will not diagnose, prescribe medication or medical treatment of any kind, and will always recommend referral to a GP or other qualified medical specialist or practitioner.

You, the client, has a duty to provide accurate and true medical and personal information, to the best of their knowledge, and to keep Caledonian Massage up to date with details of any medication, symptoms, medical concerns or treatments they are having investigated or undergoing treatment for.
